DON'T TAX MY CREDIT UNION
The Nation's Credit Unions face a potential tax challenge in Congress if legislators undertake tax reforms that would wipe the slate clean of all current tax exemptions and develop new tax laws. Credit Union's are Member Owned, Not-For-Profit Cooperatives with a specified mission of promoting thrift and providing access to credit to their membership. The federal tax exemptions allow us to offer better rates on savings accounts, lower rates on loans and much smaller fees. There are some in the financial industry, "mostly bankers", who say Credit Unions should pay income taxes, even though the banks took huge government bailouts. Not one taxpayer dime has ever been spent to bail out a Credit Union. Our elected representatives in Washington D.C. are in the process of reviewing tax reform possibilities. I am asking you as Hopewell Chemical Federal Credit Union Members, to join us and contact your representatives, telling them not to tax your Credit Union. Details about this effort are available and I would also encourage you to visit http://www.donttaxmycreditunion.org/ to send a letter to your representative.
On the behalf of our Dedicated Volunteers and Staff, I thank you for YOUR Support of and Membership in Hopewell Chemical FCU. We look forward to a lifelong relationship with you and your family.
